The term “Eyaru” is derived from an old heliographic word that symbolizes the notion of the pharaohs’ paradise—the Eyaru fields serving as their afterlife. The concept of Eyaru served as inspiration for Eyaru during the design phase. Everything on Eyaru was designed and inspired by the “Eyaru” idea. It was intended to demonstrate and give you a taste of the real Egyptian culture in the area.
Egyptian spirit is the central theme of Eyaru. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Egyptian culture and take in the essence of Egypt everywhere you look. Every every plate and carpet on Eyaru is handcrafted. With a unique design in each space, you’ll sense the Egyptian essence everywhere you go drawn from the idea of Eyaru during the reign of the pharaohs.
You will experience the most opulent hospitality while traveling over novel itineraries to discover new locations in Egypt. Along the Nile River between Luxor and Aswan, you will see a plethora of breathtaking locations, like El Hagz Island, Bassaw Village, and Gebel El-Silsila, which are exclusive to Dahabiya and inaccessible on major cruises. Along with seeing the incredible sites between Luxor and Aswan, you will also get to see the local marketplaces and live like a native in each of the cities you visit. You will go to a local’s home in Bassaw Village and spend time with him and his family. You will see a day in the life of an Egyptian and learn about their way of life.
The Egyptian spirit will also permeate your meals on Eyaru. All of the meals you have while visiting will be real, authentic Egyptian fare. You may also get fresh ingredients for your meal that evening or fish to cook on the sundeck on your trips to the neighborhood markets! You’ll get the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Egyptian culture. Additionally, you may watch live cooking demonstrations of your meal and pick up some local recipes to try when you return home.
Because of its pergola, which is its standout feature, Eyaru is enjoyable throughout the year. One section of the sundeck is enclosed by glass due to the pergola.
Thus, you don’t have to skip the gorgeous views of the Nile when visiting by staying indoors throughout the winter. For this reason, Eyaru is the only Dahabiya that sails from Aswan to Luxor and the other way around.
There are no motors on Eyaru, therefore you never experience any unsettling noises or sensations when traveling because it is pulled along by a tugboat from a distance. Additionally, you may enjoy total solitude on board since Eyaru’s team sleeps overnight on the tugboat for the first time on the Nile.
Note: Due to unforeseen navigational conditions, itineraries may be altered abruptly; however, this will only impact the order in which the trips are completed, not the visits themselves. To ensure sailing, the Dahabiya’s departure depends on the reservation of at least one double suite.
Travel
Throughout the building process, the Eyaru designer ensured that every cabin was distinct and had a varied design—for instance, varying colors—all of which were connected to the meaning of the term Eyaru. The inscriptions on the pillowcases, bedspread covers, and bed beneath the bed vary and feature lotus flowers, palm trees, papyrus plants, and banana trees, all of which are symbolic of southern Egypt’s natural beauty and the ancient Egyptian civilization. Eyaru is produced entirely by hand and contains no plastic.
